SCHOLARSHIPS and ESSAY CONTEST
We are proud to
make available the following awards
to students from a high school in Lloydminster or surrounding areas.
The Lloydminster
Heavy Oil Section of the Petroleum Society donates
these awards to worthy candidates to recognize:
¨ Personal development
¨ Academic achievement
¨ Contribution to school and
community of graduating high school students
The scholarships are intended to
financially assist students who will be continuing their education in a post
secondary institute and who are majoring in Science or Engineering with
relationship to the petroleum industry.
The applicant must be in full time attendance and a member of the current year’s
graduating class. At the time of awarding the scholarship the applicant
must be enrolled full time in a post secondary program of studies at a
university, college or technical school.

Re: Petroleum Society Essay Contest Award
The Petroleum Society is holding an essay competition for all
students entering into a science or engineering field in relation to the
petroleum industry at a post secondary institution. This scholarship
will run in conjunction with our academic scholarships and the winning
applicant shall be awarded
$1,000.00 towards his/her education. The
applicant must be in full time attendance and a member of the current
year’s graduating class. At the time of receiving the award the
applicant must be enrolled full time in a post secondary program of
studies at a university, college or technical school.
On or before August 31, 2009 the applicant shall provide a minimum
1000 word essay on one of the following topics:
1. What did I learn from touring the OTS Heavy Oil Interpretive
Centre in Lloydminster?
2. What are the uses of Heavy Oil?
3. What is the effect of a nuclear power plant in Lloydminster?
Please mail or deliver your completed application form and type
